Entering Competitions - Covid 19 - new proceedures - July 2020

AMENDED ENTRY AND SCORE INPUT PROCEDURES FOR SENIOR SECTION COMPETITIONS

 

Following last week’s competition, we have discussed with the Director of Golf a number of problems that we experienced and have agreed a number of changes to the procedures in order to try and overcome those problems. We are grateful to Karl Hepple for his co-operation and assistance in enabling these changes.

First, although we would all love to see the old arrangement of block booking tee times for comps reinstated, this simply cannot be achieved in the present circumstances – but we have been assured that this will happen no later than the beginning of October. It has however been agreed that the PSI unit will be reinstated and available from 9.00 on Friday 17th July for all purposes other than reserving a tee time. (It goes without saying that anyone using the unit should use the sanitising equipment that will be available, both before and after use).

Booking Procedure

The first step for playing in a competition is to book a tee time. THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE THRO THE SBN WEBSITE (stokebynayland.com) AS BEFORE. The system remains the same and tee times will be released two weeks in advance for all members of the Club, not just those eligible to play in the comp. Tees which have not been taken up by members will become available to visitors from one week in advance of the date of play.

Having secured a tee time, you should then use the Booking tab on Club v1 or HDID to access the start sheet for the comp and enter your name and the names of any playing partners you have arranged to share the tee time with into the appropriate time slot. This will then enable (1) the organisers to see the names and tee times of entries and (2) other members to see where slots may be available for them to fill.

WE MUST STRESS THAT YOU CANNOT RESERVE A TEE TIME USING CLUB V1. IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY RESERVED THE TEE TIME THRO THE SBN WEBSITE YOU WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY BE TURNED AWAY ON THE DAY AS IT WILL HAVE BEEN ALLOCATED TO ANOTHER GROUP. THE FACT THAT A TEE TIME HAS NO NAMES ALONGSIDE IT ON THE CLUB V1 START SHEET DOES NOT MEAN THAT IT IS AVAILABLE – IT MAY HAVE BEEN TAKEN UP BY MEMBERS NOT PLAYING IN THE COMP OR VISITORS.

If as an individual without a reserved tee time, you are looking to enter the comp, you can access the start sheet on Club v1 and look for any groups with a free slot and enter your name into one of them. Please then contact the other members in that group to let them know that you will be joining them. DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME DOWN AGAINST ANY TEE TIME WHICH DOES NOT ALREADY HAVE NAMES ENTERED INTO IT.

Having done the above, you will automatically be entered into the comp and there is no need to do anything on the day other than turn up and play and afterwards to enter your score (see below). Entries can be made up to 7.00pm on the day before the comp. After that time no further entries are allowed – you cannot enter on the day.

If your name is on the Club v1 start sheet and you are unable to play, you will be able to delete your name at any time up to 7.00pm the day before the comp. Please inform your playing partners if this happens.

Those members who have booked tee times with a view to playing in this comp are asked to enter details as above into the start sheet which is being set up on Club v1 and will be available for use within the next few hours.

 

Score Input.

When you have finished your round, you must enter your score before midnight the same day. Failure to do so will result in automatic disqualification. You can enter your score using either the Club v1 app or the PSI unit but whichever you use you must indicate which set of tees you played from – the system automatically defaults to the green tees and you must use the menu to select the white if you played from them. Playing from the wrong set of tees or failing to select the correct tees when entering your score will give rise to disqualification.
