A thoroughly enjoyable days golf @ Haverhill GC, despite the rather surreal conditions we are all experiencing at the moment. The weather could have been kinder, with the first 9 holes or so being played in that really irritating gentle drizzle where you get much damper than you actually realised.
10 Past Senior Captains competed in the only match possible this year with the home leg having to be cancelled because of virus issues.
Victorious today was a Bob Filer with a very creditable 37 points, edging out Peter Garnett (36 points) and Terry Mitchell (35 points) on countback from Lionel Hatch, who started like a train - par / birdie / par.
Terry was gently cheated out of 2nd place because of the unfortunate delay in yesterday’s Stableford results, which otherwise would have given him an increase in handicap. Desperately unlucky Terry !!
Bob Filer, right, being present with the Past Veteran Captains Trophy
by last years winner, Norman Davidson.
