INTER CLUB MATCH v HINTLESHAM - AWAY - 30th JULY

HINTLESHAM           5         SbN         3

Match 1= Kevin Price and stand in Gordon - Won 4&3
Captain led the way from the front winning 3 of the first 4 holes, Gordon played a supporting role managing to keep some holes to half. Andy and Jonathan won their best hole on the 12th from a superb putt from Jonathan, who managed another on 13 to keep them in the game. Kevin kindly sealed the win on the 15th.

Match 2= Sandfield and Norton ( who both tried to play the old can’t do a report haven’t got my glasses) lost 7&5
We were soundly beaten by Hazlitt who received 11 shots, but never needed to use them.
Great company, we left our best golf to the last 5 holes.
Despite the loss it was a great day with great company.

Match 3= Sheffield and Davidson. Loss 4&2
Great company with Dave and Jim, though though we didn’t know Jim had replaced Steve and was answering to Steve most the way round , until he told us he had more shots. We didn’t play too bad but the better team on the day won. On a positive note Paul went into 20+ bunkers ( 3 in 3 shots on 1 hole ) and managed to get out of them all first time.
And Norman after being coached by Dave not to Play of a T started to get his drives flying.

Match 4= Hele and Crane. Loss 2&1
Game was close most of the way round, we were 2 up at the turn; eventually losing .

Match 5 Kemter and Davies. Gentleman’s half
2 up with 2 to play, after Bill only managed 1 solitary birdie; nasty opposition pard and birdied the last 2 holes with shots. Desperately unlucky but enjoyable company.

Match 6= Waterhouse and Allen. Win 2&1
A very close match, neither side being more than 2 up, with the lead constantly changing.
A very enjoyable game which we won by 1 hole.

Game 7= McWilliams and Carmen. Halved
Del and myself enjoyed our bunker competition ( all square at 6 all ) we would have won if Del could putt.
Nothing of interest to report.

Game 8= Bickers and Gauls. Loss 4&2
We were 1 up after 1 , but that was as good as it got; Peter and Steve dovetailed well and used their 32 shots to maximum effect, not that we are bitter and twisted.

Many thanks to Paul Sheffield who took on the responsibilities of reporting on todays match at Hintlesham.
