INTER CLUB MATCH v IPSWICH - 22nd AUGUST
SbN 5 Ipswich 3
Kevin Price (Captain) & Phil Hickley - Very close match played in the right spirit - birdies were fairly common as were 3-putts (mainly from Phil!). Kevin's 4 foot putt for par on the last sealed the half in the match.
Colin Pottle & David Humphries - Like a premier league winning team, 2 up after the 2nd and looked in trouble. Win 4 & 2
Phil Boyland & Ian Bickers - Very tight match with SbN 3 up by the 14th tee. Sadly the Ipswich boys ebbed away at the lead, and all square after 17 holes and the result to be determined on the last hole. The match was finally drawn.
Bill Kemter (Reporter) & Richard Middleton - A tight match never more than 1 hole either way. Bill played 75 gross, and hit the ball miles. Richard putted well throughout the day. Ipswich took a late lead on the last few holes and hung out to win 3 & 1. A fun match with good banter.
Iain Gault & Richard Allen - Good game played in grand spirit despite Iain's mis-directions! Tight match on the front nine, with SbN leading 2 up, then extending to 4 up by the 11th , but then lost the next three straight. Finally got back to 2 up through 16, then to win 2 & 1.
Tony Reeves & Trevor Waterhouse - Really great game played in the right spirit and never more than 2 holes in it until the 15th when we won our match.
Ray Ludlam & Mal Jones - Winning the first hole (started on the 17th) was the last time that Ray and Mal were in the lead. The Stokes boys held onto their coat tales but eventually the pressure told and we went down 2 & 1.
Mick Henry & Simon Merriam - Our carpentry skills came in very handy today, dovetailing on many holes. 2 up after the first two holes, we were always ahead finishing off with the winning putt on the 14th by Mick.
Many thanks to Bill for his report on a great win over our Ipswich neighbours. Thanks Bill.
