Despite a less than brilliant forecast, 16 mixed pairs(including an honorary mixed pair of Clive Stedman and Charles Law) took part in the Ladies and Seniors Greensome, and were rewarded with weather that wasn’t too bad – for late November! The recent rain meant that, after months of dry conditions, the damp surface resulted in very little run on the ball, and as a result, the sparkling scores of a few weeks backwere hard to achieve. Nonetheless, Tony Emms and Jacqui Trudgett managed a very creditable 27 points (over 13 holes), edging out Terry Mitchell and Bev Thompson on countback, with the two captains, Graham Cork and Bev Ellender, a point back on 26, their strategy of putting two balls in the water on the 10th not quite working out.

This fun event was followed by an excellent pre-Christmas lunch of roast turkey (only the sprouts were missing!) and Christmas pudding, to get everyone in the festive mood.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable event and I would encourage everyone to support it when the 2026 renewal comes round in 12 months’ time.
