The weather was a little inclement with overcast skies and the occasional light shower but nobody minded as we were playing the Constable course in lovely condition.

All were in agreement that the match against Gosfield Lakes GC was played in the best of spirits with Captain Pete and Terry echoing those sentiments whilst securing a 4/2 win. John and Brian followed in with a 2/1 win in a closely fought match. Roger, of the opposition, was playing with an old set of clubs as he’d recently had his new clubs stolen from his garage. Hey, ho!!

Steve and Colin took a long time to lose 3/2. Their match had lost 3 holes to the course by the end, though sadly they were not aware of this, however Phil and Mal made up for it with a 3/2 win; quite an achievement when Phil was giving one of the opposition 21 shots!
 

Gordon and Richard twice got 4up in their match only to slip back but held on for a 2/1 win, whilst Allen and Kevin played rather well for a 7/5 win. They estimated that their better ball score would have been 51!  
 

Eric and David were pleased to be all square after 9 but the game slipped away from them and they lost 4/3. Robin and Andy feeling comfortable at 2up with 4 to play were hit with 4 net birdies to lose 2 down.
 

The meal was really rather tasty, onion and mince pie with mash and veg and with speeches done and Allen Smith picking up his nearest the pin bottle we could all go home with a smile and a 5/3 win to Stoke.
