After his long lay off, it was good to see Mick Henry back in the 40 point club. However, this was nowhere good enough for our early risers in group one.
Our sprightly octogenarian, Robin Owen had by far the best round of the day with 46 points, closely followed by Brian Butcher with 42. Paul Sheffield would have had 44 points but had to settle for 41 due to last week's cut. He was joined by another serial winner, Adrian Beckinsale also with 41.
Despite the initial moans about playing off yellows, it's good to see everyone enjoying themselves.
1st Robin Owen 46 points (40 WATT ??)
2nd Brian Butcher 42 pts
3rd Paul Sheffield / Adrian Beckinsale 41 pts
Friday 24th February - Gainsborough

3rd John Williams / Kevin Price 39 pts
Friday 10th February - Gainsborough
It was certainly a game of two halves today, the front nine frozen solid and the back nine soft to the touch.
Winners today were……..
1st Mike Clare 38 points
2nd Kevin Price / Tony Denmead 37 pts
3rd Dick Lumsden 36 pts
Friday 3rd February - Constable
What a pleasure today to play on freshly cut greens, the recent frost doesn't seem to have caused any damage.
The yellow tees were chosen today to give everyone a chance to put in a qualifying scorecard. The majority of people seem to enjoy it and it was nice to sharpen your game with some different shots.
1st Adrian Beckinsale 46 points Yet another “light bulb” moment !!
2nd Brian Willsher 44 pts
3rd Allen Smith 40 pts
Wednesday 25th January - Gainsborough
In an effort to help the slowly thawing Gainsborough course, we played preferred lies and GUR bunkers.
This was advantageous to a chosen few with some very acceptable scores.
1st Kevin Price 40 points
2nd John Williams 38 pts
3rd Alan Finlayson 37 pts
Wednesday 18th January - Constable
Played on a particularly cold day which made it difficult / impossible to judge shot distances, particularly if a pond was in the way! There were several experiences of shots finding there way forward off ice on ponds. This didn’t seem to worry either David Seymour or Mike Clare who both returned excellent scores of 37, nudging out Tony Emms with 36.
1st David Seymour & Mike Clare 37 points
2nd Tony Emms 36 pts
3rd Norman Davidson / Allen Smith / Brian Butcher 34 pts
Wednesday 11th January - Gainsborough
Todays comp, played on a particularly wet course and not at all easy weather conditions but this did little to prevent Shergar from returning an extremely good 41 points. Shergar was last seen hotfooting it to the pro shop to pay his annual subs before being disqualified by the Capt MN.
Could I emphasise the need to keep your trolleys off the fairways and if at all possible to carry your bag. I highly encourage the use of the fairway mats too. Please continue to repair pitchmarks. All in an effort to maintain the course and make it better for ourselves.
1st Shikhar Chatrath. 41 points
2nd Graham Cork 35 pts
3rd Andy Cracknell 32 pts
Friday 6th January - Constable
1st David Seymour & John Jardine 38 points
2nd Terry Mitchell 37 pts

Today on Gainsborough the captain set a challenge. For the very small sum of £1.00. You could guess his points scored. Thanks to those that dug deep to support the charity. He scored a “creditable” 21 points.
Winner today was Robin Owen with 37 points
2nd Trev Waterhouse 35 points
3rd Shikhar Chatrah and Graham Cork both on 34 points
