ESSEX SENIORS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP v BURNHAM on CROUCH - 6th MAY

On 6 May, having overcome the tough draw of a bye in the first round, Stoke by Nayland took on Burnham on Crouch in the 2nd round of the Essex Senior Team Championship, a singles matchplay competition for those with a WHS up to 15. Despite an unpromising forecast, the weather stayed dry, if rather chilly, and the non-playing team captain could have done with an extra layer or two!
Playing on the Constable course, some of the visitors experienced difficulties with the daunting opening tee shot, however most matches were tight over the front nine, there often not being more than one hole in it. But it’s all about the back 9 on a Wednesday afternoon, and it was here that Stoke asserted their authority, with win after win being recorded, our team eventually achieving a resounding 9-2 victory. Well played everyone.
