SUCCESS FOR TONY DENMEAD & DICK LUMSDEN

Tony and Dick were paired against Tony Carman and John Crane in the final, played on a warm sunny morning on Constable.   With Tony C getting 1 shot from Tony D, and Dick and John getting 10 each - it was always going to be a very close match.  But in fact, the only time the scores were all square were on the first tee and the 18th green!!   Tony C and John rushed into a three hole lead and Tony C in particular was almost unplayable - never missing a fairway and holing putts from all over the greens. They stayed in front for all of the match and were two up with three to play.  Tony D and Dick however, never gave in and won 16 and 18 to take the match to extra holes.   The first extra hole was tied, but for the first time in the match, Tony D and Dick went ahead by winning the sudden death second extra hole.   Just proving the adage that it is never over until it is over in golf.   Tony D and Dick have won the Seniors winter pairs twice in the last three years, now they have added the summer title.

Thanks to Dick Lumsden for his report of today’s Pairs final. Congrats to Tony & Dick
