Todays match was played on the Gainsborough course, which was in terrific condition.
Captain Pete teamed up with club pro Harry whilst Ray Ludlam & David Seymour provided the opposition.
The first nine holes were played without anything between each partnership , ending with Ray & David a hole up on the turn.
Again, the scores were hard fought out with the 15th hole starting with Ray & David two up.
Then their wheels fell off!
Harry got his eye in, and with Pete won the next three holes on the trot.
This meant Pete & Harry entered the 18th with a hole advantage.
After three good drives to the 18th green, David was about to take his shot when a ‘gaggle” of lady golfers walked past the tee in high volume. Despite a polite request to desist their volume increased. Consequently , the Seymour drive went straight into the watery abyss. That was his excuse anyway!
It was then a putting battle on the green which Ray won with a par 3 - levelling the match.
A terrific morning’s golf enjoyed by all with a contribution to the Captain’s Charity at the end to mark a memorable day.
Many thanks to Dave S for his report on today’s match. Clearly a thoroughly enjoyable morning.
