INTER CLUB MATCH v CLACTON - HOME - 15th AUGUST

SbN       5          CLACTON            3

On a bright August morning SBN Seniors hosted Clacton GC Seniors for an Inter Club match. Confusion reigned before the start as Kevin P and Malcolm N discovered we had been moved to the Constable course. Once all the cards had been re written play could commence.

Match 1 KP & JW

Apparently SBN were playing steady golf and were 2 up in the 13th. The Clacton pair then came alight and won the next 4 holes which gave them victory 2 & 1.

Match 2 TD & IB

Very close game with never more than 2 holes in it.Eventually a win on the 18th gave a SBN a share of the spoils.

Match 3 GB & BR

A tough match with SBN coming back from 2 down to win 4 & 3

Match 4 AC & KW

Andy’s comment that it was a tough contest with SBN eventually winning 3 & 1

Match 5 TC & MH

SBN were 3 up after 9 but were pegged back to  all square on the 15th. According to TC Mick became on fire and they won 2 &1

( Not sure this should be printed but TC commented that when one of the Clacton players had a bad shot he had more practice swings than JW !!)

Match 6 AS & MN

A match played in great spirit with a half considered a fair result.

Match 7 IG & EF

This match started on the 17th with both SBN players putting their balls in the water on the 18th & 1st . They never recovered from this and lost 2 down

Match 8 DL & AL

I take no credit for this part of  the report as it has been written by a professional.

Starting on the 17th they let two members groups before they started. Totally confused they lost the first hole. But after giving their heads a wobble they raced into a massive lead, 6 up after 11 holes. But after taking their foot off the gas they lost the next two holes before Dick made his shot  count to win the 12th and close out the match. After 5 hours they were surprised to find that there were roast potatoes left for lunch. Result WIN 5 & 4

Match Result

SBN 5 Clacton 3
