Despite heavy overnight rain and the threat of more to follow the match went ahead on an excellent course.

John Parkinson / Peter Garnet
JP giving Capt Roger 19 ( yes 19) shots. Despite going 1 down on the 2nd the match was all
square by the 4th and SBN were never behind after that point. JP & PG knitted pretty well
throughout and closed the match out with a half on the 17th. Good company and missed the incoming rain (just)

Match 2
Tony Denmead / Kevin Walsh
A close match which SBN were just shading ending the front nine 1 up. Des then chipped in
for a birdie and Terry used vhis shots very effectively to secure a win for the home side.
Enjoyable game with 2 friendly golfers.
Result Lost 3 & 2

Match 3
Ian Bickers / Richard Middleton
IB & RM struggled for the first 8 holes and were 2 down. Managed to pull ourselves together
and were 1 up after 13. Sadly we then fell apart for the next 4 holes.
Result Lost 3 & 1

Match 4
Malcolm Norton / Bill Kemter
MN & BK teamed up against the home pairing of Russel and Jonathon. Russel looked and
played like Seve and despite his mid-handicap played pars and bogeys to upset the SBN
team. We cannot blame the rain as the course was well presented. Better luck next time.

Match 5
Trevor Waterhouse / Kevin Price
After we made the mistake of winning the first hole the match was only ever going one way,
badly ! We were 3 down on 2 occasions but managed to claw it backto 1. however the
opposition proved too strong. Highlight of the round was Trevor winning the hole on 15.
Result Lost 3 & 1

Match 6
Roger Davies / Dick Lumsden
Roger says it was a very good game, on a very good course and we learned a lot about
course drainage from Phil the Course Director, who also made good use of his 6 shots off
Roger. Lost the match because the 16th hole start confused us.
Result Lost 4 & 2

Match 7
Iain Gault / David Drew
Tight game played in a really good spirit. If Iain had putted well SBN would have been 3 up
aftyer 3. Que Sera Sera. All square with 4 to play and Steve & Jim won 3 and that was that.
Past captain Jim with16 shots putted the lights out SBN didn’t.

Match 8
Tony Carman / Mick Henry
Mick said “ he didn’t play very well” but there was some good inter-weaving on some
holes. It was a tale of the two Tonys. Tony (Stowemarket) some excellent pitches. Tony
(SBN) won the last 2 holes and played excellently.
Result Won 2 up
