INTER CLUB MATCH v FRINTON - AWAY - 6th JUNE

FRINTON              4           SbN              4

Oh, to be at Frinton,
With the Seniors there.
And whoever plays at Frinton
Sees some golfers unaware,
Of the shanks and hooks and the streams that flow
Round the greens and drown the ball;
While the Captain drives down the wide fairway
At Frinton - now!
( with many apologies to Robert Browning)

Captain and JW
JW is in the middle of reading "Ulysses" (you know, the weird novel by James Joyce, you numpties).
According to our beloved Captain, John might as well have stayed at home reading it for all the use he was on the course.
Having managed to lose to a birdie on the first, things didn't really get a whole lot better.
Lost 4/3

Brian and JJ
Roloff tried to con the waitress into giving him 2 lots of sticky toffee pud but failed at that too.
JJ told me some golfy stuff but I couldn't cope with the accent.
Lost 1 down

Phil Hickley and his sleeping partner
Shergar saw the weather forecast and decided to stay in bed.
Phil borrowed a Frinton player as a partner but that one chickened out when the rain came in.
Phil was a creditable 1 up after 5 but gave up the ghost on the 14th.
Lost 5/4
Captain's a bit miffed Shergar - watch out!!!

Mick Henry and David Seymour
Mick maintained his Seniors Championship form (yes, you've heard about the 15 on the Gainsborough 15th haven't you?).
David found many more balls than he lost which is a good thing.
David also muttered something about " a dogging licence", but I may have misunderstood that.
Lost 7/6

Vanders and his little pal
We got very, very wet but dried out a bit in the gales (welcome to Frinton).
Roger's perfect "nearest the pin" on the 13th was unnecessarily and most cruelly stolen by Bad Boy Boyland.
Isn't it odd how the last groups out aways manage to win NTP???
Apparently fitness told and our heroes won 17 and 18.
Won 2 up.

VC and PJ

Loads of yawny stuff about PJ being "on fire" and also stealing the NTP prize on the 3rd.
I do hope that the comment about Graham being "miles right" and "paying dividends" didn't have any political or financial connotations!!
However, our boys dun good and won the 18th.
Won 1 up.

Bad Boy Boyland and Simon Merriam
Useless start and 3 down after 9.
The opposition got very wet but our soggy pair pulled up their own wet socks and won the 18th.
Has it been mentioned that BBB won the NTP on the 13th?
I just don't believe it!!!
Won 1 up.

Eric Fisher and Dave Humphreys
Lots of stuff about "we did this and they did that" which was too painful to retell, dear Readers.
Safe to say, after being 3 up our dopey pair were all-square on the 18th tee.
Fabulous birdie by Eric on the very long (but downwind!!) 18th gave our last pair out a win.
Won 1 up

Lovely lunch of fish and chips followed by the aforementioned sticky toffee pud.
Yum, yum
