INTER CLUB MATCH v BRETT VALE - CONSTABLE - 20th MAY
SbN 3 BRETT VALE 5
On a bright but blowy Wednesday we welcomed our friends from Brett Vale for the return 2016 match to be played on the Constable course.
Having lost the away match 5 – 3 we were looking to return the compliment on our home track. Unfortunately that didn’t prove to be the case with an identical score in favour of our guests/
Match 1 – Kevin Walsh & Stuart Lawson – lost by 1 hole
A back and forth affair but 4 wins at the start of the back 9 enabled BC to go 2 up. Despite a magnificent pitch on the 15th green by our stand in Captain it was not quite good enough to rescue the situation.
Match 2 – Malcolm Norton & Peter Jay – lost 2 & 1
A thoroughly enjoyable match in a game that we were never ahead. The BV victory was just about deserved.
Match 3 – Andy Higginson & Richard Middleton – lost 3 & 1
A fun match played with many laughs but BV were too strong an opposition for the valiant Stoke pair. A net birdie on the 17th sealed the Stoke fate.
Match 4 – Trevor Waterhouse & John Crane – lost 3 & 2
A ver4y enjoyable match with good company. The BV team dove tailed very well and were never really in trouble.
Match 5 – Andy Cracknell & Dick Lumsden – won 7 & 6
Despite Andy having to give away 12 & 19 shots this turned out to be a straightforward match with a Dod Licence achieved on the 12th green.
Match 6 – John Williams & Bill Kemter – won 5 & 4
Bill played very well, with John helping out occasionally – played against excellent company/
Match 7 – Ray Lulam & Peter Hele – Lost 5 & 4
Ray and Peter were never in this match with BV not losing a hole.
Match 8 – Richard Allen & Mick Henry – won 5 & 3
Off to a flyer with Richard winning the first 3 holes with 2 gross pars. When Richard went off the boil Mick took over resulting in a comfortable victory.
