On a day that started out wet and windy but ended up warm and sunny we welcomed Haverhill GC to the monster that is a very dry and hard Constable course and fought out an honorable 4 all draw. 

Match 1 Graham Cork / Richard Allen  - Won 2 up 

SBN were off to a fast start, 3 up after 3. Richard was in sparkling form with a  birdie on 2. A strong comeback from Haverhill saw the gap narrowed to 1 at the turn but a spectacular chip from Richard at 10 saw us go 2 up. Dormie 3 after 15, Eamonn bought it back to 1 after 17 but a solid half from Richard at 18 saw the teams shake hands. Great play from Richard, the skipper kept the score very well. 

Match 2 Andy (Crackers) Cracknell / John (JJ) Jardine  - Lost 4 & 2 

Was playing Barry from Haverhill for the 3rd year running, only giving him 19 shots this year. He scored 39 points . 

Nothing more to say, SIGNED Angry from Dedham 

Match 2 Roger Davies / Tony Reeves - Lost 2 & 1

2 up after 2, 3 down after 13, got mugged 

Tony “donne” good bur didn’t get much help. 

Match 4 Simon Merriam / Kevin Price  - Lost 2 down 

This was a close fought match and through the first 9 no team had more than a 1 hole lead, ending all square at the turn. Haverhill then opened up a 2 hole lead which fluctuated but they still were ahead by 2 with 2 to go. SBN pulled 1 back on the 17th but fell to a 4 net 3 on 18   to lose by 2. 

Match 5 Malcolm Norton / Tony Denmead  - Lost 3 & 2 

There was never much in our friendly match with the front 9 finishing all square. Eric & Rob then turned the screws to close out the match on 16. 

Match 6 Bill Kemter / Ray Ludlam  - Won 2 up 

An enjoyable game throughout. Haverhill took an early 2 up lead only to be clawed back to all square with 2 to play. The SBN boys pulled out the pin and won the last 2 holes. 

Match 7 Dick Lumsden / Mick Henry  - Won 4 & 2 

Pretty close pairing this one which was borne out with the first 6 holes being halved. Eventually SBN got their noses in front with “Mick N Dick” dovetailing well. 3 up with 3 to play they closed out with a 4 & 2 win. Good company but a very slow round!!! 

Match 8 Kevin Walsh / Richard Middleton  - Won 3 & 2 

An excellent start gave SBN a 6 hole lead after 7! After that it was just a case of holding on and despite a brief comeback we etched out a 3 & 2 win. Some excellent golf all round (mostly from SBN), an enjoyable match.
