INTER CLUB MATCH V HAVERHILL - 26th MAY

HAVERHILL       5½         SbN        2½

Graham Cork & Richard Middleton match halved

A mighty tussle Haverhill were swiftly 2 up after 3. But Cork and Middleton

held on and with some good golf all round managed a sporting half.

Tony Carman & Roger Davis match halved

The sun shone the birds sang the heat blazed. TC moaned about his new

flexible shaft aka fishing rod! Eric and Dick dun good by letting Tony win 3

holes on the back 9 to halve the match.

Malcolm Norton & Andy Cracknell lost 4 and 3

Never really in it, Malc and Andy didnt play well enough, only low lights from

this match. Shock horror, neither Andy or Malc wore a hat in todays scorching

30c plus temperatures??

John Parkinson & Kevin Price lost 4 and 3

There was a small steward's enquiry at the beginning as the Haverhill pair did

not realise their owns rules that no player can receive more than 18 shots. A

disgruntled member of their team was a bit peeved as he lost 5 shots,

however he did not need them anyway!!

Brian Roloff & Tony Reeve lost 4 and 2

Not many shots and not much good golf from SbN. We were always on the

back foot and lucky to only loose four and two, Haverhill played very well. As

always, great company and friendly banter.

Bill Kempter & Kevin Walsh match halved

The match score varied from one up all square and one down throughout the

round. All square after 17 and 18 halved result match halved. Wonderful

freindship from the Haverhill pair.

Gordon Bryan & Tony Denmead won 2 and 1

Our opponents Andy and Davis took an early lead but SbN fought back to go

one up.Slowly increased to two up with Tony and Gordon dovetailing nicely.

Gordon then went to sleep and Haverhill went one up. Three wins on thebounce put SbN two up to close out the match and a win.Good company

played in the right spirit.

Simon Merriam & Richard Allen lost 4 and 2

SbN were up against it from the start with our opponents making a string of

pars over the early holes to take a three hole lead. This was pegged back to

two at the turn. However it didn’t last and Haverhill went on to win the match 4 & 2

Many thanks to John Parkinson on his reporting of today’s away match. Thanks John.
