On a cloudy, drizzly day a strong Stoke By Nayland team travelled to Romford Golf Club for a tricky match in the John Day Trophy.

The course was very well presented with greens a little on the slow side. All the matches were played in a friendly but competitive manner.

The quality of the golf played by both sides was at times excellent with many birdies being recorded.

The majority of the matches were extremely tight with players from Stoke By Nayland keeping their nerve to secure a close win allowing the team to complete a convincing 6½ - 2½ win.
