The annual Medal Cup and Bell competition on Gainsborough is always one to sort out the men from the boys.  This year, there was the added jeopardy of thunder and lightning forecast to possibly spoil the party.

As it turns out, the really bad weather took a big swerve away from SbN, and only the later starters among the 56 competitors had to cope with a couple of heavy, but very welcome, showers.

However, the high tension of the medal round, did inevitably mean a few NRs - but we also saw no fewer than eight net scores in the 60s, meaning plenty of competition for the prizes.

At the end of the day (almost literally, as he was in the third from last group) Ray Ludlam carded a net 66 and won the Medal Cup, as well as the Division 2 top spot.

Mark Clark recorded the only gross score in the 70s with a very respectable 79 - but with a net 73 that left him in only 8th position in Div 1 - very harsh!!

Div 1 was won by Allen Smith for the second year in a row with a net 67, beating Barry Hitchcock on countback.
