Bright sunshine and a chilly breeze welcomed 58 players for the first monthly Stableford of 2022 on a very wet, but still very playable Gainsborough course.

Perhaps not surprisingly with the ground so wet, we saw no repeat of the high 40s scores of the pre-Christmas period,   But it was very tight at the top, with two players in Division 1 and three players in Division 2 all coming home with 37 points and only separated by countback.

In Division 1, Allen Smith just edged out John Smith.  And in Division 2, the honours went to John Russell, who leapfrogged John Gove and Norman Davidson at the very last hole with a birdie 2 for 5 points and win it on countback.

Winner of nearest the pin was Barry Hitchcock who ran it up to 18 inches from the pin on the 7th hole.

No disqualifications needed, with a huge improvement in the way cards were marked and returned.
