It is with great sadness that we have to record the passing of our great friend and fellow golfer, John (Simmo) Simpson

At the age of 91, John was the oldest member of Stoke by Nayland GC and had been a constant supporter of the club since  the Club was formed over 50 years ago. Until reasonably recently John was a regular supporter of the Seniors Inter Club matches.

John lost his beloved wife Cynthia in April 2025 and while recently in hospital he learned that his younger brother had also passed away. John really struggled to get over these two losses and his visits to SbN, to catch up with (and argue about football and Colchester Utd) his great mates, David Hunter, Steve Ling and Derek Adams (the Blue Arrows), reduced.

His presence was very much missed by all of the Seniors who had come to love Simmo. 

May he now be allowed to Rest In Peace.
